A Versatile Cleaning Solution and Overcoming the Problem of Surface Damage

For a while there, it seems like the majority of us were going through Clorox wipes like wildfire, wiping down every counter and other highly-trafficked surface multiple times per day, every day.

In the frenzy of the late pandemic, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. What might come as a surprise to some of you reading this, however, is that there is a cost associated with perpetual, ongoing disinfection of a variety of surfaces.

While it is often necessary to disinfect heavily used surfaces (such as those used for the preparation or consumption of food) it is also the case that chronic cleaner use will also damage many surfaces. This post will explore this issue in a little greater depth.

Cosmetic Issues

First, chronic administration of all-surface cleaners or disinfectants that contain ammonia, petroleum-based cleaners, or bleach is likely to leave a residue on the surface you’re disinfecting unless you are judicious about removing it.

Fortunately, whether or not a versatile cleaning solution leaves a residue on some surface is determined not just by its chemical composition, but by how heavily you use it and how carefully you are to wipe it away.

In most cases, any residue left behind can be removed with a damp rag.

The Deeper Level: Surface Damage

Unfortunately, while residue is easy to remove in most instances, some cleaners also have a noxious habit of damaging the surface on which they are used, especially if they are used too frequently.

Most commercially available disinfectants and all-surface cleaners intended for residential use are blended so as to be relatively gentle on hard, non-porous surfaces like stainless steel, ceramic, and glass.

While it is also true that glass and ceramic are among the most stable of household surfaces, the chlorine in some disinfectants, if left on steel (or other metal surfaces) for too long, will cause discoloration, pitting, and corrosion.

Other all-surface cleaners that are designed to penetrate the surface in order to loosen soil are even worse, especially if they contain reactive chemicals like alcohol, bleach or ammonia. These, when used on porous materials like wood or textiles are almost guaranteed to cause discoloration or other damage that may be irreversible.

Plastic and painted surfaces are another consideration; while it is difficult for some cleaners to penetrate these, both paint and plastic are reactive in their own way, and exposure to certain chemicals can cause cracking, pitting, peeling, warping, shrinking, or other damage.

Taken in some, this is one of the reasons that the most effective all-surface, versatile cleaning solutions are not only non-penetrating, but do not contain harmful chemicals.

Enter Release, an All-Surface Cleaner Free from These Woes

The issues mentioned here are among the most compelling that Release is one of the most effective all-surface cleaners on the market.

The secret behind this versatile cleaning solution is its associative technology, by which it binds to organic soils on the surface so that they can be lifted and removed, without the need to penetrate the surface.

But the formula of Release has some other tricks up its sleeve. This versatile cleaning solution is also free of ammonia, acid, alcohol, bleach, chlorine, phosphates and petroleum.

Where to Learn More About This Versatile Cleaning Solution
