Reliable Sealing Technology in Manufacturing Equipment
Industrial environments require durable and stable cable protection solutions, especially where vibration, moisture, and dust are present. The Metal Cable Gland plays an essential role in securing cables entering control panels, motors, and junction boxes.
In manufacturing plants, equipment often operates under high vibration levels ranging from 10 Hz to 2000 Hz depending on machinery type. Metal cable glands are designed to resist loosening under such conditions due to their threaded locking structure and anti-vibration compression design.
Common thread standards include Metric (M thread), PG, and NPT types. For example, an M20 Metal Cable Gland typically accommodates cable outer diameters between 6 mm and 12 mm, making it suitable for medium-sized control cables.
Material selection is also important. Nickel-plated brass is widely used due to its balance of conductivity and corrosion resistance. Stainless steel (such as SS304 or SS316) is preferred in chemical plants where exposure to acids or saltwater is common.
The sealing system inside the gland ensures IP65 to IP68 protection levels. IP68-rated glands can withstand continuous immersion in water beyond 1 meter under specified pressure conditions, making them suitable for offshore platforms and outdoor power systems.
Another important feature is strain relief. The Metal Cable Gland prevents cable pull-out forces, which may range from 50 N to over 200 N depending on design and cable size. This protects internal electrical connections from mechanical stress.
In industrial automation systems, these glands ensure long-term reliability by maintaining enclosure integrity, reducing maintenance needs, and improving operational safety.
